My teaching experience dates back to freshmen in college. I volunteered for a afterschool program teaching kids elementary school subjects and helping them with homework. I worked at PS 186 as IT support for a year where I've had the pleasure to work with students, teaching them basic computer commands and troubleshooting. At my full time job, I've done multiple training sessions some with non-technical clients and have been well received. Lastly, my most relevant experience teaching computer...

I had two lessons with Yao J. He is very knowledgeable with the topic and considerate throughout the lesson. I have learned a lot within each session with him and would like to continue working with him. I highly recommend him.

Yao has helped immensely with my daughter's Computer Science fast paced college class. My daughter has expressed many times that Yao has significantly improved her knowledge of programming concepts. Not only is he very patient, but he helps clearly and efficiently review and explain all of the material, so that she can fully understand. She looks forward to working with him again in the future. I would definitely recommend Yao to any student in search of a wonderful and skilled tutor! She is truly thankful for his help.

Yao tutored my daughter in AP Computer Science. My daughter had never taken any coding classes, and she was feeling overwhelmed by this new way of thinking. Yao was able to explain complex concepts in an easy-to-understand way. He has an excellent knowledge base, and he is patient and kind. We look forward to working with Yao over the course of the school year!

Yao really helped me understand the issue I was having. He was very helpful in making me understand what and why we were doing it.

Yao helped me understand some Java basics through a decently complicated program. He took the time to understand all the specifications of my assignment (which can easily take 10-20 minutes) before we began our session. He is not only knowledgeable on the subject, but also listens and works with your intuition. This is his most valuable method of teaching, because many tutors will overburden you with information that simply does not accommodate or improve your current understanding on the subject. Yao overall is clear and concise, and will make your sessions well worth it.

Yao was able to help me better understand the basics of Java during our session. He broke down and explained the necessary steps needed in order to approach problems dealing with OOP. I definitely recommend Yao as a tutor and look forward to contacting him again in the future.

Yao is very knowledgeable about computer science in general and helped further my understanding of what I was having trouble with. It will take practice to put what I learned into effect but in due time, I think it?ll be possible. I plan on contacting him again before my final exam if I have any doubts.

YaoMing not only explained everything well but walked me thru other apps that I was unaware existed which helped me understand the assignment better. Would definitely use him again.

I had problems with my java project for my college course. YaoMing was super patient, tested my knowledge so I could learn and also gave me a push when I was stuck. I definitely recommend him for your code learning needs.

Yao is a really good listener and you can tell that his goal as a teacher is to help his student really be more into what they are learning. He asked me what my long term goals are and related my current learning to my interests. Rather than going straight into explaining the practice problem?s prototypes and methods, he explained in terms of object oriented programming which really helped open up my mind. He helped me see which part of the problem is the part that instantiates objects and the part that assigns function values to those objects and before this, the problem was just a very long blob. He also explained javascript quirks that I spent 2 weeks reading literature on, in a manner of seconds, which was very encouraging. Thank you!
