Hello,

My name is Shinsuke and I am a native Japanese. I have been in this country for 12 years and graduated from the University of Arizona. After my graduation I was fortunate to secure a position as a teacher at a private language school in Tucson, Arizona, and then as Adjunct Professor at Pima Community College. I held my position as an adjunct faculty member teaching Japanese for 4 years and received very positive reviews every semester. In addition I continued teaching private le...

Shinsuke??'s teaching style is conversational, easy-going, and patient. He sprinkles in a lot of information about the nuance of Japanese language, real-world speech and usage, and culture.

Shinsuke, is doing a great job helping my son with his high school Japanese class. My son is struggling with this subject and Shinsuke is supportive and patient.

Thoughtfully and understandably answers questions. Is entertaining and very knowledgeable. Makes time doing assignments seem to pass quickly. Replies fast and seems to be flexible with lengthening sessions.

We are onto new chapters where conversations and vocabularies are getting harder, but Shinsuke Sensei showed great patience and incredible knowledge!!! He is great!!

Shinsuke taught me history of Katakana and interesting topic, as well has beginning level of Hiragana. He gave me text book information to have and follow along with. I look forward to more lessons! My homework is to practice at least 15 characters of Hiragana. Thank you very much!

My first lesson was great. I struggle in class and avoid problem words or difficult grammar because I don't want to hold up my class. It's great to be able to have someone patient to help in these areas and build my confidence.

Today was a great day!! I?m happy was able to meet for our lesson. It?s been a while. I was able to practice my speaking skills. I have to remember to perfect my long vowels and double consonants. We read through chapter 10 and 11 dialogues. I was happy the dialogues had a lot of katana words because I needed to practice those. Overall a great lesson. I have a new identity as Stephanie Ryuuko!! Yay! Thanks so much, Shinsuke sensei. Looking forward to our next lesson!!

Nice lesson, as always. Sensei helped me with my Japanese pronounciation, which I always lack confidence in. We read novel together so he could correct my reading of words. We also practiced Japanese speaking by talking casually about things. I learn new things every time. Looking forward to our next session. Have a good one, Sensei!

Shinsuke is calm and collected and so patient in his approach. I felt challenged to push myself right from the get go which is what I was looking for in pursuing a tutor. He gave a lot of great positive feedback as well which really helps motivate me. It has only been one lesson so far but I'm so excited to return next week.

Shinsuke is both an exemplary teacher and a compassionate friend. His knowledge of the Japanese language and culture has and still does exceed all my expectations. Regardless of your struggle, Shinsuke's patience is never compromised. If fluency is your goal, look no further. I would rate him even higher if I could.

My first session with Shinsuke was great, and I look forward to continue working with him in the future! We went over hiragana, their pronunciation, and the correct intonation of words. Shinsuke was both helpful and patient, as well as able to give clear responses to any of the questions I brought up. Overall, I would definitely recomend Shinsuke!

Shinsuke has been fantastic. He is kind and generous with his time, and will push you in the best way. He also takes his time and will review concepts that may be more challenging. Great communicator and tutor.

I had a wonderful conversation with Shinsuke for our first session. He goes beyond teaching the basics of the language by also talking about the cultural contexts as we briefly discussed the history of Japan and its society. He?s a great teacher.

I have been waiting to write this review until I attended a few lessons. Shinsuke is by far the BEST Japanese teacher I ever had. His level of patience is superhuman, especially if your someone who likes to take their time to digest what they learn and not feel rushed. His ability to assess your academic needs underscores his years of teaching. I have taken many Japanese classes in college and with private organizations full of native speakers, but to date, Shinsuke stands head and shoulders above them all. An added benefit to studying with Shinsuke is his working knowledge of business Japanese and social etiquette.Something I did not receive in a classroom setting. If I had to give him a grade, it would be an A++. Outstanding teacher for serious students of Japanese.

Shinsuke tutors our teenage son in Japanese, a subject he started as a high school freshman. Shinsuke is a remarkable teacher. He's diligent and well prepared, we receive a synopsis of every session they have together. We credit our son's success in this challenging subject to Shinsukes tuition and highly recommend him for any level in this subject.

I had my first meeting with Shinsuke earlier this week and from that one meeting I can tell that he is a very skilled teacher. Shinsuke is very easy to understand and very patient. Shinsuke gave clear explanations, and made learning Hiragana fun, easy and left me wanting to learn more. I'm looking forward to our next meeting and our meetings to follow.

Today I had a great first meeting with Shinsuke. He is clearly very experienced in working with students of varying backgrounds and needs. We started off with discussing my purpose for learning Japanese and areas on which I wished to focus. We quickly delved into an introduction to the Hiragana lettering system, regular-voiced-unvoiced consonants, long vowels, and double consonants. Along the way he gave excellent historical and cultural context behind the development and usage of Hiragana relative to the usage of Kanji. It was a very enjoyable lesson and discussion. Before I knew it the hour was over. I'm looking forward to my second lesson later this week.

I met Shinsuke for the first time today. Although I am 100% new to the language he was incredibly patient with me. Just based on our meeting today it was already so obvious to me that he has a very deep understanding in his language. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable, but also he is genuinely a really nice person. I think I'm going to enjoy working with him a lot. I can't wait for my next lesson. Thank you, Shinsuke!
